Full details still pending, but go ahead and mark your calendars for this year’s Alabama Coastal Cleanup!
Saturday, September 19th, is the 33rd annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup. As always, we will have a cleanup zone for kayaks and canoes at Bartram Landing here at 5 Rivers. Folks who bring back trash and recycling (aluminum cans and #1 plastic bottles) will get a t-shirt. Note: this zone is for kayaks and canoes only (bring your own); pedestrians are strongly encouraged to visit a different zone (find one here: https://alabamacoastalcleanup.com/cleanupzones/).
What will be different? We are encouraging people to use the CleanSwell app to record their data of what trash they collect, instead of the traditional paper data sheets. Also please bring your own gloves, masks, water, sunscreen, etc. We are going to do this year as contactless and socially distanced as possible. In the interest of distancing, we will also be extending the hours of the cleanup to include the rest of the week, where people can still drop off their trash and get a tee through Sunday the 27th. Those exact logistics for our zone will be posted closer to cleanup.
Saturday, September 19th, 8am-12pm: Pick up bags for trash and recycling at Bartram Landing. Use the CleanSwell app to record your data. Upon return, receive a Coastal Cleanup tee.
September 20th-27th, 8am-5pm: Drop off trash bags. Location to be determined. Tees will be given out as long as supplies last.
